Cave Ridge Vineyard
Cave Ridge Vineyard is a family-owned and runs vineyard and winery set in the foothills overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, world-renowned for its stunning beauty and history. Low rainfall and deep rocky soils make this a perfect site for producing the best quality grapes needed to manufacture Cave Ridge wines. The tasting facility was established in 2005 by owners Randy and Karen Phillips. Immediately after opening, the estate-grown Virginia wines earned a dedicated following. Their daughter, Megan, eventually joined Cave Ridge Vineyard as the General Manager. Website

The Winery at Kindred Pointe
Owners Amy and Bruce Helsley bought the 58-acre property in 2005, and within a year, the pair created Kindred Pointe Stables. Kindred Pointe’s name derives from Amy’s love of the novel Anne of Green Gables. The initial buildings, a storage barn and horse barn were erected in 2007. With Amy handling the stable, Bruce decided to shift his focus to grapes. This was an excellent match for Bruce since he always had a natural green thumb. Merlot was the first harvest to be planted in 2008. At this moment, the concept of creating a winery was non-existent. Boarding equines was no longer an option due to the economy’s downturn in 2010. An accountant by training, Amy decided that the firm needed a makeover and that wine was an excellent option for making it successful. 2011 brought ideas of extending the vineyard and creating a winery to Bruce and Amy’s minds. After studying viticulture and oenology at UC Davis, Amy hoped to become a winemaker and intern at Michael Shaps Wineworks in 2012. Around this time, Bruce and Amy chose to engage with Michael Shaps Wineworks to produce the first batch of wines to assure quality. To mitigate their risk, the pair immediately realised that they would need to lease vineyards outside of their local microclimate, which proved to be a boon in the face of illness and harsh winters. Since then, Bruce has become the estate’s winemaker, working with Amy to develop the wine’s style and flavour. New varieties have been planted, too. Website

M&R Vineyard
Shenandoah County, Virginia’s M&R Vineyard is a family-owned and run winery. When JC Mansilla and David Rourke acquired a hillside pasture in 2012, it was not just because of the stunning vistas of the Allegheny Mountains but also because of its limestone-based soils, height and terrain. In 2013, we started planting the vines after doing soil testing, planning out, ripping and tilling the rows, and auguring the holes. Our goal is to cultivate a sense of community and mutual respect by serving on the board of our local wine producers’ organisation. Our vineyard is cared for in the finest manner possible, allowing us to provide Virginia wineries with unique, locally farmed fruit that best reflects the Shenandoah Valley AVA. Website
